System Monitoring Engineer

Purpose of the role:
To implement and maintain robust monitoring and observability solutions for IT systems and applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
What you'll do
- Implement monitoring and observability for IT systems and applications across different technologies.
- Set up and maintain end-to-end monitoring, using tools such as Node.js and Selenium to enhance system reliability.
- Manage REST API integrations, facilitating communication between systems and our observability platform.
- Write and maintain scripts to support tasks and enhance efficiency.
- Assist application owners in translating operational needs (such as reducing incidents or enhancing performance) into observability solutions.
- Maintain system documentation and standards.
Who you are
- You possess a good understanding of the IT stack and how its components work together.
- You are proficient in scripting, preferably Python, with additional knowledge of Bash, Go, and/or PowerShell as a plus.
- You have experience or are interested in Observability and application performance monitoring.
- You are interested in learning about cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCS) and Cloud solutions in general.
- You have experience or familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and containers (Docker).
- You possess a general understanding of IT technology with industry best practices and are knowledgeable about Service Management (ITIL).
- Experience with SQL and version control systems (Git) is beneficial to your role.
